Ursa had her first dose of chemo on Friday. It was oral, and we administered it at home.
We keep expecting to see her energy flagging and her appetite waning and yet… well, see for yourself: http://blogalacart.com/2012/06/what-chemo/

Happy 7th Birthday to my Solstice Baby, my Black Bear, my Ursa Major! More pictures and thoughts here: http://blogalacart.com/2012/06/7-years/
Ursa’s staples come out tomorrow! Hooray hooray! She has recovered from surgery beautifully and is kicking butt as a tripawd. I’m so inspired by her.
The big news is that her cancer is not osteosarcoma. It looks like a joint cancer instead. Still waiting on further tests and opinions to plot our course from here but I would love your feedback and thoughts. Please jump over here and share as my readership has taken quite an interest in tripawds. I am so grateful for your support!

I am absolutely blown away by Ursa’s resilience.
It has been an inspiring weekend. I’ve capture a video 24 hours after and 72 hours after surgery. It’s an incredible sight to behold this dog recovering so seamlessly. I feel so fortunate. I’m trying to focus on the here and now and not worry about next steps and diagnosis/treatment. I’m so proud of my beautiful tripawd.
I’ve written all about our weekend post-amputation here. HOP on over for details and more photos…
Visit here for a video of Ursa 24 hours after her amputation.
Dogs are amazingly resilient. I am so proud of her.
Ursa made it through surgery like a champ. It was long. The tumor was big. We’ll just have to wait for what the pathologist says. But for now we are focused on getting her home and recovered from her amputation. I have lots of photos and thoughts over on my personal blog. If you have a second, I would love for you to hop on over and let me know if you have any words of wisdom as we prepare to bring her home this afternoon. They said that she’s struggling on slippery floors, but has been eating and evacuating, so that is good news.
Thank you all for you positive energy and love. It made yesterday better, despite all the nerves and fear.
